It's apparently time I changed my bio, a few of you have suggested it one of you (you know who you are :)) ) CONVINCED me that it was time I changed it! So here goes:
I joined IPA almost a year ago now, on the spur of the moment. I landed on the site whilst following the thread of a Hipstamatic photographer, I clearly remember the pieces I'd seen which had blown me away, I wanted to comment on them, so I joined. I then clicked on the critiques page and that felt like discovering Aladdin's cave, aside from Hipstamatic and Doodle Buddy (!) I had no idea all these apps existed! I read a review about Iris, thought it sounded good and promptly bought it without really knowing what it was for! That... was the beginning of the end for me!
Though my work might have 'matured' it certainly hasn't settled. I like a variety of styles, from the straight forward to the over apped to the abstract, to the meaningful or the meaningless, to the serious or the fun, I'm basically all over the placeI I get carried away with what apps can do. I get too inspired by what other artists do. I still feel like a novice most times and.. I'm still hooked!
Though I post here and there IPA is my home sweet home, a great community where I've met a variety of amazing generous artists!
At the beginning of January I made it to the top 20 IPA finalists for the year, an honor which I still find so hard to believe that I forget to show off about it!
I'm keeping my old bio just to remind me of where I was a year ago:
The day I discovered people were doing such evocative work just by using their phones I was sucked in... I can't wait to be sitting in a waiting room somewhere so I can have a few minutes to be creative with my i-phone, I now even look forward to my kids doing their homework so I can sit and do my 'homework' whilst they're studying!
I am a complete novice compared to all the artists' whose work I have been admiring on here, so much so that I'm embarrassed to post my work on here. But I've got to give it a try, I've got to start somewhere.... so here's my start...
